Why the comparisons keep converging

Large head-to-head trials — DIETFITS being the clearest — repeatedly find no significant difference between sensible dietary patterns at twelve months, with enormous variation within each arm. The between-diet difference is small; the between-person difference is large.

That points at adherence rather than composition, which is why the useful question is not which diet is best but which one you will still be doing in a year.
